About the Role:

Job Summary

The Magnet Program Director provides leadership and direction for nursing services by meeting and exceeding selected standards of nursing excellence. Coordinates the Magnet application, document, designation, biannual reports and redesignation. Coordinates the integration of Magnet standards into the nursing and hospital infrastructure. Helps to oversee and lead improvement efforts in collaboration with nurse leaders around NGHS strategic goal deployment and those indicators specific to nursing. Serves as advisor to Nursing and Hospital Leadership regarding Magnet Standards. Leads Magnet committees. Serves as liaison to the ANCC Magnet Recognition Office. Coordinates Magnet education and staff development. Assists in coordinating and interpreting the data of the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) for patient outcomes and experience and nurse satisfaction. Collaborates with the Director, Nursing Quality regarding nurse sensitive indicators and other pertinent data. The Director has knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations that govern nursing practice and must exercise sound, independent judgement in adapting and applying leadership and clinical principles to specific situations. The Director relies on experience, judgment and collaboration to plan and accomplish goals. Assists in the advancement of the professional practice environment by collaborating in setting and supporting the NGHS nursing strategic direction. Assists with overall clinical governance and other projects as assigned. Supports Professional Nursing Governance.

Minimum Job Qualifications

• Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia. Professional Certification in either a clinical or leadership role.

• Educational Requirements: Master's Degree. A degree in Nursing (either BSN or MSN)

• Minimum Experience: Minimum of five years of nursing experience in a hospital or related health care setting. Three years of experience in nursing management, supervisory or comparably related position. Experience with Magnet journey and/or document writing

• Preferred Educational Requirements: DNP and/or PhD.

• Preferred Experience: Research and EBP experience.

• Other: Professional organization membership within one month of hire into the role.

• Skill in supervision (e.g. hire, train, assign and review work, motivate, prepare performance evaluations and effectively handle disciplinary actions).

• Skill in tailoring communication and performance feedback to the individual employee.

• Skill in coordinating services with other departments.

• Strong writing skills.

• Knowledge of performance improvement tools and methodologies.

• Competent in use of excel, tables, graphs etc.

• Ability to demonstrate Magnet philosophy through coaching and mentoring.

• Maintains thorough understanding of the dynamics of major healthcare industry trends to support the integrated analysis of performance results against goals and targets.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

• Oversees the Magnet Program, documents, application, reports and re-designation.

• Collaborates with the production, analysis, and presentation of relevant nursing sensitive quality data to key individuals, committees, and leaders and provides guidance on opportunities for improvement.

• Responsible for the production of various reports and quality information.

• Works in close partnership with leaders within other departments to prepare and meet requirements of Magnet, DNV and other regulatory agencies.

• Promotes effective communication by utilizing multiple forums and strategies to reach all staff, including administrative leadership and physicians.

• Facilitates the collection of outcomes data from a variety of sources to provide information for data analysis, trending, and reporting of nursing sensitive indicators. Facilitates the data analysis, trending, and reporting of nursing related measures.

• Makes decisions regarding appropriateness of performance improvement initiatives, methods, implications of data (including trends, variation, and research), others' compliance with regulatory standards, evidence-based practice, and need for changes in process or practice.

• Works with leadership when trends are identified, and facilitates performance improvement processes.

• Oversees various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations, and other related activities.

• Participates in strategic and operational planning and implements objectives reflective of organizational philosophies, mission, and values.

• Cost effective use of human and material resources to ensure financial viability of division and organization.

• Responsible for overseeing a wide variety of regulatory, administrative, and fiscal activities, both internally and externally.
