Cardiac PCU is a fast paced 40-bed ICU step down unit which cares for a diverse, and acutely ill patient population. We specialize in the treatment of patients requiring advanced heart failure therapies such as Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs), artificial hearts and heart transplantation. We also care for patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass, valve repairs, heart catheterizations, pacemaker implantation, and AICD implantation. Our unique specialty gives us the opportunity to build connections with our patients and their family members.
Our Unit is a Family at the End of the Day
Our team is extremely energetic and talented group. Due to our fast paced environment, we must think on our feet and support each other always.
•Patient care model: Registered Nurses & Patient CareTechnicians/Nurse Technicians
•Ratios: 4-5 patients per 1 RN based on acuity & 10-13patients per 1 PCT/NT based on acuity
Our leadership team is highly engaged and works closely with the frontline staff. We encourage great relationships with our physician team and other ancillary departments. Our Cardiac PCU is fortunate to have a specialized group of physicians and mid-level providers that have close working relationships with the nursing and leadership team.
Dedicated to Growth & Development
As hard as we work together, we love to celebrate together. Through special events, unit outings, potlucks, and daisy award celebrations we cheer each other on at every opportunity. Educational conferences are highly encouraged each year as we pride ourselves on staying up to date with new Heart Failure therapies. Cardiac PCU also hosts continuous education opportunities led by our physician and mid-level team to ensure we are using best practices.
