The approving official may authorize a waiver of the requirement for ACEN or CCNE accreditation of any degree in nursing provided the college or university has regional accreditation from an accrediting body recognized by the Department of Education at the time of the candidate's graduation and the composite qualifications of the applicant warrant such consideration. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. The nurse must be able to educate patients, families/caregivers in the home setting, lifting, moving, and/or transferring of patients and use equipment to provide patient care which usually involves lifting and/or pushing the equipment. The RN is responsible for the storage, proper cleaning techniques, and use of reusable medical equipment (RME). He/she must be able to locate the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all RME in the clinical area. She/he is responsible for carrying out proper procedures for caring for patients in an isolation environment by following proper infection control procedures. She/he communicates regularly with the HBPC Program Coordinator and interdisciplinary HBPC team, home health agencies, and multiple disciplines of the VA hospital.
