COMMUNITY DESCRIPTION
With a diverse and industrious population, Windsor Locks, Connecticut enjoys a reputation for combining cutting-edge innovation with hard work that began in 1827 when a group of Hartford merchants joined with 400 Irish laborers to build a canal bypassing the Connecticut River's treacherous Enfield Rapids. That reputation endures today with some of the nation's brightest minds working on NASA's Orion Project to bring man to Mars. A major Northeastern distribution hub for American Honda, Federal Express, and UPS facilities, Windsor Locks is also home for aerospace products (Collins Aerospace, UTC) and specialty non-woven and paper goods (Ahlstrom-Munksjo).
