The Community Living Center RN is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Physical Requirements: Visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity; potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical inpatient lifts are provided. May be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive procedures, or home settings. May occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The Registered Nurse in the Pueblo Community Living Center (PCLC) is responsible and accountable for the provision of a full range of nursing care (Direct Care to Charge Nurse duties) to veterans with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems including: Long Term, Respite, Mental Health, Hospice and Palliative/Comfort Care. Further duties of the position are, but not limited to: Uses the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, evaluation) in delivering safe care. Completes accurate and expedient documentation for each encounter in the medical record utilizing the authorized data bases, the nursing assessment, intervention, outcomes, and veteran education. Safeguards patient privacy and confidentiality.
