This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting 45 pounds and over; Heavy carrying 45 pounds and over; straight pulling (4 hours); pushing (4 hours); reaching above shoulder; both hands required; walking (8-12hrs); standing (8-12hours), and repeated bending (8 hours). Both legs required, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, both eyes required. ["The Community Living Center (CLC) offers long term and short-term care programs services that meet the needs of adults and geriatric Veterans. Veterans are admitted to the CLC when they are determined to benefit from a variety of services which may include: Restorative Care, Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury support, and a variety of diagnosis requiring Short Stay admissions. Common diagnosis and need for services include, but is not limited to Hospice care, chronic wound management, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, extended IV therapy, and post-surgical orthopedic procedures. Long Term services are offered for those who benefit from residential care needs due to chronic diagnosis, significant decrease, or total loss in activity of daily living and need 24/7 care. This position requires flexibility in schedule and assignments to ensure availability to residents, and nursing staff to provide efficient operations. The incumbent practices and demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. The incumbent is accountable for the operation, first-line supervision, administration, quality care and evaluation of the delivery of care, unit functions and programs for assigned areas and shifts for the CLC. The incumbent is responsible and accountable for CLC/unit operations 24/7 for administrative and clinical care purposes. The incumbent must maintain high levels of professionalism with internal, external, person to person or electronic communication with residents, staff, interdisciplinary team member, families and people of varied educational levels and ethnic backgrounds. The incumbent works collaboratively and cooperatively as a member of a team across the Medical Center. The incumbent makes efficient, and safe care practices for the resident is their priority. The incumbent demonstrates excellent customer experience principles in all aspects of work. The incumbent ensures that the staff under his/her supervision is trained, competent in all areas of the Community Living Center. The incumbent is competent in the setup, use, reprocessing, and maintenance of unit specific equipment leading to initial competency and validation of ongoing competency at least annually. The incumbent coaches staff, handles employee conduct and performance issues, completes recurring reports, and performance appraisals in a timely manner. The incumbent overseas day-to-day operations to assigned areas, shifts, and personnel.
