Carilion Clinic's Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Program is seeking an experienced nurse leader to join our interdisciplinary leadership team in the Unit Director role. The responsibilities include nursing and quality oversight of the 33-bed rehabilitation unit as well as managing approximately 50 nursing and support FTEs. The ideal candidate will have experience in nursing leadership with a background or certification in rehabilitation preferred. He/she will partner with therapy and physician leadership to deliver exceptional and comprehensive rehabilitation care.
Located at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital, the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation program serves patients who have experienced a significant medical event that has resulted in loss of function, limiting their ability to return to home. Typical diagnoses include stroke, traumatic brain injury, amputation, spinal cord injury and multi- trauma. Our purpose is to provide the necessary therapies (physical, occupational, and speech), medical management, patient and family education, equipment, and additional support to enable a safe, successful discharge to home.

Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing. BSN Required at CMC due to Magnet designation. For outlying community hospitals, BSN is preferred or an ADN in conjunction with a related Masters degree.
Experience: 3-5 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. AHA BLS-HCP required. May be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, de-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward. Licensure and/or certification in medical or management related discipline preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting and work competency skills. Promotes a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health must possess ability to appropriately handle/restrain patients who may be disruptive and/or physically violent.
