You Will Be Responsible For:
Reviews staffing and census of all nursing units to determine if staffing is consistent with the budget, staffing grids and patient needs. Adjusts staff as possible.
Facilitates efficient patient admissions and patient flow.
Makes frequent rounds throughout hospital to assess and resolve issues and incidents.
Available for consultation to the staff.
Promotes good interpersonal relations between all departments.
Assists staff in obtaining equipment and supplies as needed.
Provides crisis intervention for all hospital departments.
Responds to and leads all code events.
Assists in handling emergency surgery by contacting Surgical Services and Cardiac Cath Lab staff on call.
Communicates shift occurrences through the daily Administrative Supervisor report.
Ensures documentation of incidents into Risk Master.
Assists staff in end-of-life situations.
Serves as mentor to Departmental Shift Supervisors and Charge Nurses by providing guidance in problem-solving, crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
Provides on-going and current evaluation of Patient and Customer experience.
Communicates to Department Director/Manager issues regarding employee counseling and/or discipline.
Oversees the completion of outstanding core measures/value based purchasing items during off shifts.
Approves department time for payroll Monday
Approves requested time-off
Review/Approve changes to time clock punches
Manages temporary/agency staff
Accesses compensation related information (pay rates, pay history, etc.)
Submits forms to change job data (i.e., job title, pay rate, full-time/ part-time status, shift, location, standard hours)
Notifies HR if an employee resigns, transfers or leaves without notice
Create the request for replacement staff
Arranges interviews with the team for opened positions
Other managerial tasks as assigned by CNO
What You Will Need:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Thorough understanding of hospital policies, procedures and legal aspects of acute care nursing
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Basic computer skills, including experience with an Electronic Health Record
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
Five or more years of nursing experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Five or more years of recent acute care hospital nursing experience.
Charge experience, lead, clinical coordinator or nurse manager experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
BSN degree or in school pursuing the degree
Critical Care or Emergency Department experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Registered Nurse with licensure in the State of Florida
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
NIHSS from Know Stroke (NIHSS from American Heart Association will be accepted upon hire, subsequent renewals must be completed through Know Stroke)
CPI certification within one (1) year of employment
Responsible for the planning, implementation and management of the Nursing Administrative Supervisors. In collaboration with Nursing Leadership and Hospital Leadership, coordinates hospital activities in the absence of Directors and Managers. Working with Nursing Leadership, coordinates daily staffing needs. Supports Nursing Leadership in planning for future staffing needs. Facilitates placement of direct admissions and those from the Emergency Department. Assures effective and timely communication to staff, Department Directors and Administrator-on-Call. Investigates and resolves incidents and issues. Communicates findings as appropriate to Department Director/Manager, Administrator-On-Call and/or Risk Manager.
