Columbia is the geographic center of South Carolina, with easy access to mountains (two hours west) and nationally recognized beach resorts (two hours east). Columbia boasts a nationally acclaimed library system, highly rated schools, and many outstanding golf courses. Big time college sports abound with two major schools - the University of South Carolina, Columbia, in the Southeastern Conference and Clemson University, Clemson, Atlantic Coast Conference (two hours away). The Nurse Manager demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to management of complex care. In addition, applies skills necessary to identify, coordinate, and/or identify discipline-specific education, as well as training in leadership, professional staff development and emerging needs, to all levels of staff. This RN is a nurse supervisor and provides oversight for, staffing, counseling and disciplinary actions; Acts as the Nurse Manager of other units when other Nurse Manager is absent. The Nurse Manager demonstrates: 1) Leading and organizing delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning; 2) Using advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes; 3) Functioning as an expert in clinical practice and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities; 4) Systematically evaluating current practice, and formulating outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within an area of expertise; 5) Guiding, developing, and supporting staff from a leadership perspective; and 6) Using professional standards of care, scientific evidence, and practice to evaluate programs and/or service activities.
