This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more ***This announcement was amended to include 25% or less travel. **** The HBPC Nurse Manager is a professional nurse who holds twenty-four hour accountability for the management of a defined area of organized nursing services or patient care unit within the San Francisco VAHCS. The HBPC Nurse Manager is a first level-nursing manager who functions under the direction and guidance of the Chief Nurse of GPEC in providing clinical and administrative leadership. He/she uses the nursing process to achieve identified goals for the San Francisco VAHCS. As a nursing leader, the Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of Nursing Practice and Nursing Operations within his/her defined areas of responsibility. He/she facilitates an interdisciplinary approach to high quality, cost effective and customer focused health care. The Nurse Manager directly supervises all nursing personnel on the designated unit. He/she is accountable for writing and adhering to established policies, standards of care, and standards of practice. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Leading and organizing delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning Using advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes Functioning as an expert in clinical practice and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities Systematically evaluating current practice, and formulating outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within an area of expertise Guiding, developing, and supporting staff from a leadership perspective Using professional standards of care, scientific evidence, and practice to evaluate programs and/or service activities Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm NOTE: Shifts may vary depending on patient care needs.
