The Licensed Practical Nurse performs a variety of nursing skills specific to the clinical needs of patients on the Substance Abuse Recovery and Rehabilitation Treatment Program (SARRTP) and Inpatient Mental Health unit under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Work Schedule: 8 hour night tour with rotating weekends. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required MAJOR DUTIES: Provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in a variety of health care settings. Demonstrates knowledge to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical behavioral problems and substance use disorder related issues. Demonstrates ability to serve as a responsible member of the health care team and interact with patients, significant others and co-workers. Administers medication accurately and promptly under the general supervision of a registered nurse. Demonstrates understanding of the effects and/or reactions caused by medications, treatments, and procedures. Records and reports these observations. Provides effective education to patients/residents in relation to common disease processes, medications and recovery focused treatment. Accurately records and reports patient care consistent with policy and procedure. This includes, but is not limited to, patient observations and treatments Participates in Treatment Team meetings. Maintains a safe, clean, therapeutic environment and adheres to infection control guidelines. Prevents injury to self and others by complying with established safety procedures Practices proper technique during sterile procedures. Demonstrates safe work habits, identifies and immediately reports any unsafe conditions to the registered nurse. Maintains confidentiality of written, electronic, and verbal patient/employee information. Other duties as assigned.
