RN Salary Range: Candidate's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy. The Registered Nurse Educator is directly responsible and accountable to the Nurse Manager of Nursing Education as well as the Chief Nurse over Nursing Education. Incumbent is responsible and accountable for the provision of educational programs, orientation, training activities, and in-services for all nursing staff on their units. Provision of these educational offerings will provide a positive impact on direct patient care and for delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse Veteran patient population. Incumbent possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team approach practice setting, which will then enable effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices for patients, and attainment of optimal levels of functioning. Role responsibilities and accountabilities also include demonstration of the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age related needs of patients served in an assigned area of practice. This knowledge includes understanding changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric population. The Nurse Educator collaborates with the Nurse Manager of their assigned area of practice to enhance/improve the overall staff education opportunities at this medical center. This may include, but not be limited to, review(s) of the Medical Center Mission, strategic planning, educational budget forecasting, educational resource allocation, operational planning, nursing affiliation and recruitment/retention activities, and policy/procedure development and revision. The incumbent will promote consultative interaction in the establishment and maintenance of expected nursing educational frameworks within all areas of this medical center, working collaboratively with nursing instructors. The incumbent is involved with provision of effective mechanisms for all nursing staff to actively prepare for, and participate in, accreditation and regulatory review processes and is actively involved in the Joint Commission and CARF accreditation compliance processes. The Nurse Educator is an expert learning facilitator, a change agent, a mentor, a leader, a champion for Scientific Inquiry, and advocate for nursing professional development, and a partner for practice transitions. The learner and Nurse Educator interact to contribute to nursing professional development processes and the achievement of measurable outcomes that address the identified opportunity. The incumbent is a registered nurse who influences professional role competence and professional growth of learners in a variety of settings. The Nurse Educator supports lifelong learners in an inter-professional environment that facilitates continuous development and learning for the healthcare team. The Nurse Educator is also responsible and accountable for maintaining BLS Instructional training (and/or ACLS training when required) and maintaining professional certification in their nursing specialty.
