The Registered Nurse (RN) serves the veterans receiving care at Rocky Mountain Regional Medical Center (RMRMC) by providing navigation, coordination and consultation. The RN is responsible for working closely with the Surgery Nurse Manager, Chief Nurse interventional Services, Chief/Deputy Chief of Surgery and surgery section chiefs to develop and implement its performance improvement plan and activities. The duties of the Surgical Nurse Navigator are, but not limited to: Leads and participates in process and quality improvement initiatives to improve performance by preparing, coordinating, tracking and monitoring progress, as directed by service leaders. Performance improvements include the veteran experience, safety, clinical efficiency, resource utilization, reducing surgery cancellations and improving access Understanding surgical electronic health record documentation and including, but limited to VASQIP/SHEP/SAIL metrics, interpreting JC standards; interpreting VA Handbooks and Directives regarding quality management /performance improvement/patient safety issues; continued readiness for regulatory visits including OIG and NSO collaborating with the facility Patient Safety Officer Overseeing I managing national accreditation programs and monitoring progress of reviews and follow action Items to ensure completion in a timely manner Manages data including meeting minutes, surgical workgroup follow up, review of deaths, share points, and standard operating procedures. Serves as a resource and provides education to staff and residents Works collaboratively with other departments including surgery, HAS, travel, and other interventional areas Supports programs that promote safe and high quality surgical care, such as the Aging Veterans and others Provides clinical expertise and consultation to assist in data driven decision making and performance improvement matters Conduct's tracers, operational assessments and participates in the design of special studies to define the cause and scope of issues or trends and assist in the identification of appropriate criteria for problem resolution, analysis includes trends and patterns. He/she participates in the development of innovative approaches to the establishment, enhancement, modification, and/or improvements in a variety of facility programs Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
