Columbia is the geographic center of South Carolina, with easy access to mountains (two hours west) and nationally recognized beach resorts (two hours east). Columbia boasts a nationally acclaimed library system, highly rated schools, and many outstanding golf courses. Big time college sports abound with two major schools - the University of South Carolina, Columbia, in the Southeastern Conference and Clemson University, Clemson, Atlantic Coast Conference (two hours away). This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until June 30, 2021. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 22 January 2021, with subsequent cut-off dates every Friday. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled. NOTE: First area of consideration will be given to current RN's within the Columbia SC VA Health Care System. The Columbia VA Health Care System is actively recruiting Registered Nurses for the Emergency Department, Acute Service. As a responsible member of the Acute Hospital Team the incumbent demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. He/she interacts with Veterans, family members, and an interdisciplinary team of professionals. He/she is responsible for planning, administering and directing nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with emergent, acute or chronic medical-surgical needs. He/she must be poised and articulate in communicating with people of varied educational levels and varied ethnic backgrounds. The incumbent is responsible to ensure that the highest possible quality of care is achieved and that a safe therapeutic environment is provided. He/she is administratively responsible to the Nurse Manager and responsible for other team members, i.e. RN, LPN, NA. Performs other related duties as required by Nurse Manager. Work Schedule: Typically day tours with flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays. Tour of duty is subject to change based on agency needs. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
