This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until June 30, 2021. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 9 April 2021. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals, every Friday, or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled. Birmingham VAMC (BVAMC) is a Level 1a major interdisciplinary teaching facility with service-lines serving medical, surgical, and neurological inpatients and outpatients, with a Level Ill Emergency Department, and multiple community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC). There is a large outpatient psychiatric population, with admissions for medical co-morbidities. The Southeastern Blind Rehabilitation Center provides services in a residential setting. Home-Based Primary Care is provided in the veteran's home. Some of the duties of the RN include, but, are not limited to: 1. RNs assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients. 2. Perform direct patient care duties including, but not limited to, hygiene - including baths, medications including blood products and chemotherapies, treatments, emergency actions, safety, PI all ADLs, charge nurse and team leader. 3. Ensures infection control principles are followed, such as wiping exam tables with disinfectant wipes between patients. 4. Checks emergency equipment daily.
