The CNM demonstrates the highest degree of integrity and commitment to upholding professional, clinical and VA standards and practices loyalty to the mission and the SAVAHCS. **Position is located at the SAVAHCS CBOC, Sierra Vista, AZ** The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) is professional nurse leader and member of the Patient Care Services-Primary Care management team. This nurse participates in decision making, policy oversight, tactical planning and operational implementation within the Service and the assigned clinic. Works collaboratively with the Service Chief and Associate Director of Patient Care Services to ensure alignment with policies and practices that promote optimal patient care, Service and agency outcomes. This nurse supports the overall SAVAHCS nursing practice management. The breath and scope of the CNM duties encompass the entire spectrum of clinical, administrative, research and education focus areas within the assigned area of responsibility. The CNM supervises the nursing assets and functions assigned to the clinic setting. This includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and health technicians. The CNM is responsible for hiring, orienting, managing, and supporting the assigned staff. The CNM is responsible to complete and maintain required staff documentation including competencies, proficiencies/appraisals, and personnel actions meeting set suspense dates. The CNM ensures required licensure, certifications, education requirements are current. The CNM plans, directs, and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of nursing care and activities using the Patient Aligned Care Team model to support team activities to support optimal patient care. Coordination with other health disciplines, clinics, Services is imperative to manage care of discharged and/or complex patient cases. The CNM provides input to and advises the Service chief on clinical practice, personnel, budget, equipment and contingency planning and providing appropriate documentation and/or rationale. Service communication is continuous via electronic, video, face to face and attendance at Service and assigned meetings. The CNM fosters a climate for professional practice collaborating with PACT teams, ancillary staff, and clinic, and Service leadership . The CNM works collaboratively with nursing staff to provide an empowered, productive, harmonious and expert work environment that optimizes patient care/satisfaction while supporting continuous improvement. The CNM represents nursing and the Service interests when service on assigned committees, workgroups or at meetings.
