The VA Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, MO is seeking a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager to lead our Care in the Community within Nursing Service. Incumbent will demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others and will demonstrate proficiency in decision-making and using the nursing process for complex situations that affect the performance outcomes at the point of care. The Clinical Nurse Manager will demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. The incumbent will be knowledge in Federal Long Term Care regulations, Joint Commission (where applicable), and OIG regulation, and all other accrediting bodies as applicable. The registered nurse is a proficient nurse who demonstrates proficiency in decision-making and using the nursing process for complex situations that effect performance outcomes at the point of care. This nurse demonstrates collaboration by using the group process to solve problems. The focus is on leadership in strategically planning long-term goals for the microsystem (unit, team, or workgroup) that impacts operations or resources. The proficient nurse demonstrates critical thinking with efficiency and accuracy in assessing and managing situations. The Nurse Manager will assure that sufficient qualified staff are available on a daily basis to meet the needs of Veterans. Nurse Manager provides leadership, supervision, and direction to staff. Performs duties as follows: develops time schedules, completes performance evaluations, and initiates or recommends disciplinary actions, responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards. Actively develops and manages collaborative partnerships with physicians and other clinicians. Applies the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/work group level to improve care. Demonstrates leadership by involving others in improving care. Demonstrates evidence of critical thinking skills in identifying, analyzing, and resolving patient care problems on the unit. Assesses staffing allocation in making assignments. PLEASE NOTE: Basic Life Support (BLS) is required for RNs in direct patient care positions per policy; the supervisor may also direct BLS certification for other positions. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required in specific specialty areas and assignments per policy. Incumbent will be self-directed in completing orientation and on-going mandatory education. Will actively participate in competency assessment and validation. Specialty assignments may require a scope of practice for procedures beyond basic education.
