Th Ralph H. Johnson VA is recruiting for highly qualified Nurse Manager for the Specialty Clinic Surgical Service. The Nurse Manager, SC is a registered nurse who has completed the necessary educational preparations in order to care for a culturally diverse population of veterans in the Specialty Clinic Surgical Service setting. He/she has a thorough understanding of managing SC flow and factors that impede flow. Demonstrates, promotes, creates and ensures a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of all individuals are respected. Provides an environment that fosters employees to perform to their full potential. The Nurse Manager, SC Surgical Service provides 24-hour management, supervision, and leadership for a clinical practice setting. This includes but is not limited to resource utilization (human, supplies/equipment), patient flow, performance improvement activities, and staff and program evaluations. He/she is responsible for all issues that affect nursing including standards of practice, credentialing, training, functional statements, position descriptions, timely proficiencies and performance appraisals, and ensures compliance with all policies, procedures and protocols. The Nurse Manager, SC Surgical Service ensures appropriate orientation, education, competence assessment, and continuing professional development of nursing personal supervised. The Nurse Manager, SC Surgical Service has a thorough understanding of managing Specialty Clinics flow and factors that impede flow. He/she is accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care and standards of practice; demonstrating leadership in improving nursing care; and the administration, management, supervision and evaluation of both nursing care and nursing personnel on his/her designated unit. Demonstrates, promotes, creates and ensures a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of all individuals are respected. Provides an environment that fosters employees to perform to their full potential plays a key role in the ongoing systemic evaluation and improvement of the quality and effectiveness of nursing care and services as they affect patient outcomes. He/she will provide guidance and direction to the performance improvement process in the SC Surgical Service. He/she will work collaboratively with the Nurse Manager, SC Medicine services to ensure ALL specialties have adequate coverage and care is delivered in a safe and equitable manner. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0730 - 1600. Overtime, including evenings, weekends and Federal Holidays, may be required Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
