For more information go to http://vaww.fscdirect.fsc.va.gov/pcs.asp. The Deputy Associate Director, Patient Care Services (DADPCS) is a member of the executive leadership team. The Deputy ADPCS has the oversight responsibility for the provision of timely and continuous high quality and safe nursing care delivered to patients of Hines VAH. In this role, the Deputy Associate Director, Patient Care Services provides primary assistance to the Associate Director of Patient Care Service (ADPCS) in guiding overall management of the practice of nursing and the profession of nursing across the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois. The breadth and scope of the DAD/PCS role extends into all major practice areas, i.e. clinical, administrative, and research, and its six Community Based (CBOCs) in Oak Lawn, Aurora, Kankakee, Hoffman Estates, La Salle and Joliet. The DADPCS participates fully in upper-level management decisions to speak on behalf of nursing and is a member of medical center-level Councils and Committees that govern and influence the operations of the medical center, such as the Director's Advisory Council, Facility Quality Board, and the Affiliation Partnership Council. He/she is fully involved in facility and VlSN strategic planning. Duties include: Participates with leaders from the Executive Leadership Team, management, medical staff, clinical areas, and administrative areas in strategic planning and decision-making processes. Provides guidance for Chief Nurses and Program Managers as they carry out the expected functions and activities of their positions. Works closely and collaboratively with nurses, physicians and other clinical professional colleagues in the medical center, and CBOC's to assure patient care is delivered in a coordinated fashion and is of the highest standard possible, Provides leadership in the development of innovations and provide recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies and objectives for the enhancement of nursing organization-wide, Assists with policy-making activities as related to customer service and the overall functioning of administrative and clinical programs Leads and collaborates with other health care staff to establish and maintain programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission and healthcare. Supports the ADPCS/Nurse Executive for this facility and its associated community-based outpatient clinics and serves as the ADPCS in his/her absence.
