Description Assistant Manager Patient Care Services - Float Pool Your role: The Assistant Manager, Patient Care Services of the Vanderbilt University Hospital Float Pool is a direct supervisory leadership role that is a key member of the Nursing leadership team. The incumbent will participate in overall management of the Float Pool with responsibilities that include: people management - interviewing candidates and onboarding new hires, leading huddles and rounding, coaching and mentoring staff; operations management - time and attendance tracking, scheduling, personnel and payroll forms, communications to staff members. Ensures the unit's optimal performance by engaging in effective problem solving for staff, patients and families and to develop/lead the assigned staff. Provides feedback and coaching to staff members, recognizing them for their contributions while fostering a high-performance culture. Under the guidance and direction of the manager, develops, implements and evaluates systems that promote cost effective quality patient care. Department Summary: Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH) cares for adult and geriatric patients during the entire care continuum. The Float Pool consists of 100+ Nursing and support staff who provide critically needed supplemental staffing to staffing to over 35 different clincal areas within VUH. Float Pool supplemental staffing provides a crucial service for our customers, not only to ensure safe quality patient care, but provides support for our unit colleagues as well.
