The Community Care Section is the access point for care provided to Veterans by community providers. Staff manage each episode of care in the community and act as the liaison between external VA providers, community providers, and Veterans. Community Care clinical and administrative staff work together under the mission of supporting strong clinical outcomes for Veterans while at the same time meeting the business objectives of the medical center. The Assistant Nurse Manager for the Clinical Review Team leads and serves as the clinical resource to the team of clinical personnel within the Community Care Section. The Assistant Nurse Manager represents the VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) Community Care Nurse Manager and functions as a subject matter expert in the program area. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Supports Community Care Leadership in providing relevant educational content, clinical expertise, and ability to provide education to adult learners. Serves as an advocate for patients and is clinically supportive of staff. Acts as a resource in interpreting VAPSHCS policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for staff and other personnel within and outside VAPSHCS. Ensures optimal utilization of available resources and maintains a climate conductive to high quality patient care and safety. Knowledgeable about performance improvement, performance measures, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards. Participates in development of staff through informal education/training Responds to medical emergencies, fire and disaster plans. Identifies and reports concerns related to nursing practice, staff performance, staff conduct, and/or staff injury. Promptly completes relative documentation in accordance with VAPSHCS policy. In the absence of or at the delegation of the CC Nurse Manager, will be designated to handle administrative and clinical issues, such as staffing coverage, granting leave, and patient and/or staff issues. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with occasional travel to CBOC's where Community Care staff are located. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Telework: Yes, as determined by agency policy. Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays per year. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).
