This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more The Birmingham VA Healthcare System is currently recruiting for (1) Registered Nurse (Accreditation Specialist) to work in Quality Resources Service. Leads all readiness activities for accreditation by The Joint Commission, Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, Office of Inspector General (OIG) and various other internal and external accrediting/oversight entities. Performs duties that directly contribute to both the continual accreditation of BVAHCS programs and the clinical quality and safety of patient care provided at the BVAHCS main campus and its community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC's). Facilitates the development, implementation, and sustainment of proactive and corrective improvements to meet accreditation standards as well as other regulatory, Veterans Affairs (VA), and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) requirements. Facilitates, supports, and assures completion of ongoing assessments and quality monitoring actions by clinical service/subject matter experts to evaluate compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Competently executes position responsibilities in a manner that demonstrates substantial and continuous leadership, responsibility, and accountability for oversight of population groups and integrated multidisciplinary programs, and support for safe, high quality patient care and organizational initiatives. Utilizes critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and evaluation skills integrated with accreditation and clinical knowledge and process improvement methodology to examine BVAHCS programs, processes, and performance. Initiate plans to improve and sustain patient care quality and safety. Builds results-oriented teams to identify and solve problems and meet accreditation requirements. Creates effective lines of communication and collaborative functional partnerships with senior leadership, internal and external customers, and accreditation stakeholders. Participate in special projects within Quality Management that promote continuous readiness of the organization. The incumbent will evaluate complex programmatic data and determine facility priorities, using leadership skills and lean management strategies to independently drive interdisciplinary change and improvement throughout the healthcare system.
