JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the East Region Chief Nursing Officer, the Chief Nursing Officer at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe provides clinical leadership within the hospital. This executive provides the direction and support required to affect high quality patient outcomes. As a member of the senior leadership team the CNO works closely with the CEO and CMO to guide clinical services in the acute care hospital and clinics with a focus on achieving healthcare excellence. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe is a 176-bed acute-care hospital with a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care unit and a Level III Trauma designation. The medical center offers a full range of specialty services including cardiac care, orthopedics and spine, women’s services and outpatient oncology. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Identifies and articulates the vision and strategic direction for the development of high-quality nursing care consistent with the mission, vision, and values. - Creates a nursing environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care, education, and research is promoted and achieved. - Oversees the practice of nursing and ensuring consistency in the standard of practice across clinical settings. - Provides strategic leadership as the patient care executive responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions / services within the clinic and hospital organization. Ensures implementation of system-wide and regional strategic initiatives. - Participates in hospital strategic planning process and collaborate with facility management team and the medical staff to develop the overall financial plan for the medical facility. - Leads quality and patient safety efforts. - Provides leadership and direction in the development of strategies to promote the recruitment, retention, and recognition of excellence in Nursing including oversight and recommendations regarding compensation and benefit programs for nursing staff. - Assumes accountability for identifying problems and issues, generating solutions, and anticipating the effects of those decisions. - Develops and implements quality and utilization standards for patient care services to ensure coordinated plans of treatment, delivery of services that meet member's needs, and the most cost-effective and efficient levels of patient care clinically and operationally. - Implements a performance improvement program, including planning, setting priorities, conducting systematic performance assessments, implementing improvements based on such assessments, and maintaining achieved improvements.
