We are looking for a dynamic RN leader to support our busy and fast paced Operating Rooms at University of Minnesota Medical Center - University Campus (East Bank). The Supervisor of the Operating Room will partner with the Charge CRNA and Anesthesiologist of the day to ensurecare is effective and efficient for all stakeholders. Working with the OR Nurse Manager and another PCS, this role will have direct and indirect responsibilityfor union Nurses, Surgical Technologists, and union Nursing Assistants. TheSupervisor aids inpromoting the practice of professional nursing as well as the development and utilization of resources. TheSupervisor works cooperatively with the OR Nurse Manager, administration, physicians, staff and customers of the M Health Fairview system to provide services and consistently meet and exceed expectations of the people we serve. TheSupervisor participates inaspects of budgeting, performance management and human resources matters, including recruitment and the administration of disciplinary measures. TheSupervisor assists inimplementing and supporting safety protocols and regulations ensuring compliance with federal, state and local requirements and meets all Joint Commission requirements. TheSupervisor will model behaviors consistent with M Health Fairviews mission, vision and philosophy and effectively maintain the hospitals Standards of Care and Practice.
This role will focus on day shift operations, covering 8/10/12 hr shifts. Hours may be flexed to fit the needs of the unit & departmental business.
Assists in managing the day-to-day and shift-to-shift operations
Supervision of personnel in the department and projects as delegated.
Hiring, discipline and performance evaluations
Review of daily surgical schedule
Preference card assessment, review, and adjustment in conjunction with scheduling and team leads
Acts as a role model
Collaborates with Nursing and Provider leadership to implement and evaluate standards of practice.
Supports our patient experience initiatives
Assist with charge nurse development
Demonstrates skills/abilities in provision of patient care and directs patient care
Managing new hire onboarding
I-care review and follow up with unit staff and other departments
Collects and analyzes quality data and utilizes process improvement methodology to insure delivery of safe and quality patient care.
Supports and leads unit initiatives related to patient experience, clinical practice, and employee engagement
Attends Unit Practice Councils
Involvement with e-time (payroll)
Bachelors Degree in Nursing. If Bachelors is not in nursing, then must have a Masters degree in nursing.
Minnesota RN license
BLS certification current or by end of orientation
3 years clinical nursing experience in the operating room
5 years of RN work experience
1 year leadership experience (charge nurse, supervisor, team lead, etc.)
