WOC Nursing provides consultation, education and direct care for patients with needs in the area of chronic wounds. WOC Nursing collaborates with physicians and other health care disciplines to determine best treatment protocols and facilitate quality outcomes for wound care patients. WOC Nursing incorporates current research and best practice guidelines for the care of wound patients.
Demonstrates ability to care for simple and complex wounds and skin care injuries
Demonstrates ability to influence product choices through collaboration with the physician
Demonstrates ability to provide education to patients, family and other healthcare professionals individually and in group settings related to wound care
Demonstrates ability to provide care of service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served
Current MN RN licensure
BLS Certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Two to four years of recent nursing experience
BSN degree and ACLS certification
One year of previous healthcare experience in an ambulatory setting
Current CWOCN or CWCN certification by the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB)
