Responsible for the oversight of the overall operations of the Surgical Services Department (Pre-Admitting; Pre-operative unit; OR; Sterile Processing and PACU). He/she ensures that each nursing unit provides optimal patient care services; assures each unit meets all legal, regulatory, accreditation and certification requirements; and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of the organization. Assists in formulating budgets and adhering to established budgetary standards and directs and controls the purchase and inventory maintenance of supplies; participates in the departmentï¿½s planning, revenue analysis, budgeting, education and human resources activities. Participates and ensures performance improvement activities as initiated. Monitors overall staff performance. Consults with staff, physicians and CNO to ensure issues are addressed, policies and procedures are interpreted to ensure quality patient care.
ï¿½ Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. ï¿½ Bachelors Degree required or equivalent years of work experience, Masters Degree preferred. ï¿½ Current BLS Certification at time of hire. ï¿½ ACLS certified within 3 months of hire. ï¿½ Management training or equivalent managerial experience preferred. ï¿½ State of Florida Board of Nursing License required ï¿½ Certification in Specialty Area preferred
