The Nurse Manager s major responsibility is for the implementation of the mission, vision, philosophy, core values and standards of practice for all staff on their Department or Unit. Serve as a catalyst and role model, provides administrative leadership and direction. Responsible for the allocation of available resources to promote autonomous, effective, safe, cost efficient, and compassionate quality care. Facilitate an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of collegial relationships among nursing personnel and other disciplines, also with the healthcare community. The NM is responsible for aligning clinical staff with RWJUHR Pillar goals. The NM is accountable for the acute care environment and must create learning experiences that are open, respectful and promote the sharing of expertise. This ability to enhance the practice environment is critical to the recruitment and retention of all staff. During an emergency situation when all attempts have been made to cover the CAC shift, the Nurse Manager may be asked to assist with House coverage.
7-10 years of direct experience in the field as a licensed NJ RN and a BSN with 2- years experience in a nursing acute care leadership role or must be enrolled in a BSN program in NLN accredited school, must be completed within the 1st year of starting the Nurse Manager role. Current American Heart Association CPR/BLS and ACLS required. Critical Care experience, National certification, and a masters degree preferred. Unit Specific Certification will be required.
