Functions independently to obtain focus specific pre-operative anesthesia assessments of surgical patients and pertinent follow up of laboratory and other tests obtained during the peri-operative period.
Orders and interprets laboratory, diagnostic, and therapeutic tests relative to patientï¿½s age-specific needs and procedures being performed. Seeks other information, including consultation with physicians and other clinicians, as needed, prior to surgery. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals and follow up.
Reviews all information obtained in the peri-operative period prior to clearance.
Communicates with collaborating physician, consultants, and surgeon as appropriate.
Participates in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies and procedures. Acts as consultant/collaborator to clinical team on area of specialty.
Provides and supports the provision of pre admission testing services with a commitment to excellence in patient experience.
Provides leadership that supports hospital and departmental policies and contributes to the achievement of goals.
Provide direct patient care services; augment a physicianï¿½s ability to provide medical services to patients; perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order lab studies and professional consultations.
