The Vascular Access Team Resource Nurse role serves to enhance the delivery of quality nursing care using evidence-based nursing practice. The Vascular Access Team Resource Nurse is responsible for all aspects of the RN (Inpatient)Vascular Access Team position and demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise through use of the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients to achieve the best clinical outcome. The Vascular Access Team Resource Nurse provides education and resources to nursing staff as needed regarding all aspects of vascular access and infusion therapies.

Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
Demonstrates ability to be confident, personable, self-motivated and function with tact and poise in all situations.
Demonstrates the capability of making rapid and clinically accurate decisions based on evidence- based practice.
Knowledgeable of the Infusion Nursing Society (INS) standards of practice as well as the Michigan Appropriateness Guide for Intravenous Catheters (MAGIC)
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program.
BSN preferred for Registered Nurses with five or more years of experience, BSN required for Registered Nurses with less than five years of experience or enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months of hire date and completed within 4 years from date of hired.
Minimum of two years Vascular Access nursing experience.
Professional Vascular Access Board Certification preferred and required within 6 months of employment.
BLS certification required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Must be able to walk long distances while pushing a cart of care items throughout the hospital coverage area. Must have good hand/eye coordination.
May requires independent travel.
