Blythedale Children’s Hospital (BCH) www.blythedale.org is seeking an extraordinary pediatric physician executive to serve as Pediatrician-in-Chief for Blythedale Children’s Hospital. This Pediatrician-in-Chief will provide leadership for the Department of Pediatrics, Pediatric Subspecialties, Psychology, Infection Control, and will be a valuable member of the senior management team.
This is an opportunity for a physician who is experienced in the management of physician staff, committed to the provision of advanced pediatric services to children and their families who are challenged by complex medical issues and medically underserved.
Working closely with Blythedale’s leadership, the Pediatrician-in-Chief will contribute importantly to the overall strategic direction of BCH as well as to provide oversight to the clinical enterprise in his/her role as Pediatrician-in-Chief in order to fulfill the organizations goals related to clinical excellence and innovation.
The successful candidate will have an established reputation for clinical excellence and innovation, along with a proven record of having demonstrated critical leadership, organizational and management skills needed to lead in the context of the changing health care environment. He/she must have the skills and experience to contribute to the vitality of a clinically and educationally strong department, which maintains several key affiliations with leading academic universities and their progressive health systems.

Blythedale Children's Hospital is New York state’s only specialty children's hospital located in Valhalla (approximately 45 minutes from mid-town Manhattan) and is the only independent children's hospital in New York State. Since 2011, Blythedale has completed four (4) major building projects, opening a new inpatient hospital, a day hospital, The Stavros Niarchos Center for Speech & Audiology, and the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Pediatric Long-Term Care Pavilion. Currently Blythedale is working with their architects on the planning, design and construction processes to form their final phase of building renovations.
This is an exciting role for a leader in a free standing, Specialty Children’s Hospital who is skilled at working in a busy clinical enterprise and who appreciates and has the required administrative and clinical experience.
M.D. or D.O., and American Board of Pediatrics Certification is required.
Fellowship and Certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine highly preferred.
Progressive management experience in a pediatric hospital or academic medical center setting.
The ideal candidate will have a reputation as a talented physician leader with a record of accomplishment in clinical care, medical education and scholarship.
Effective leader who has the management experience and leadership capability evidenced by accomplishments in a children’s healthcare enterprise.
Credentials to support the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in an appropriate academic unit.
Eligible for an unrestricted and unchallenged license to practice medicine in the State of New York.
