Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is a 118 bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment Center for children and adolescents ages four through eighteen. The 55,000 square foot facility is situated on approximately 10 acres in the southeast corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from both Florida and Georgia. In addition to the living units, the facility houses our full service cafeteria and New Day Academy; a state-supported year-round K-12th grade school with vocational opportunities. We provide numerous recreational activities including an in-ground swimming pool, game room, playground, basketball courts, and gymnasium. The multi-disciplinary staff at Laurel Oaks collaborates to ensure that services provided are clinically and medically appropriate and highly coordinated among all treatment disciplines. Laurel Oaks specializes in the treatment of youth who have multiple challenges and special needs. All children served at Laurel Oaks have a primary psychiatric disorder but most also have co-occurring conditions such as intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and/or physical/sexual abuse victimization. Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is currently seekingÂ Assistant Nurse Manager.Â Â The Assistant Nurse Manager will:
Participate in developing, interpreting and implementing nursing philosophy, objectives, standards, policies and procedures for area of responsibility.
Supervise nursing staff in carrying out nursing duties for area of responsibility.
Ensure adequate nursing coverage according to staffing patterns and acuity for all RTC units to include second and third shifts.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards for area of responsibility.
Support an environment conducive to professional growth and motivates staff to perform duties in an efficient and positive manner.
Serve on Nursing Management Committee and other committees as designated by the Nurse Manager.
Participate in staff development programs and orientation of new employees.
Participate in interdepartmental activities directed at improving communication, coordination and quality patient care.
Conduct monthly nursing staff meetings.
Recommend employment and discharge of Acute Nursing Staff to the Nurse Manager.Â
Monitors FTEs according to budgetary guidelines.
Investigate unusual incidents, medication errors, and complaints from patients, personnel and other departments and reports to appropriate person.
Emphasize the importance of maintaining a therapeutic environment, patientsâ€™ rights, the nursing process, safety and patient participation in care.
Successful completion of all applicable demonstrational competencies.
