The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders at the University of Nebraska Lincoln is searching for a tenure-track faculty member, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This is a nine-month appointment. We seek applicants with a promising or established research program and teaching experience in early intervention for children with hearing and/or vestibular impairments. This position offers a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration in research and instruction related to auditory development, hearing assessment, amplification, cochlear implants, aural rehabilitation or vestibular assessment/management with pediatric populations. This position will also be expected to work collaboratively with others across the Department, College and University.
Appointment at the associate professor level may be awarded with tenure.
Responsibilities: Establish a vigorous, extramurally funded and collaborative program of research, teach undergraduate or graduate courses in area of expertise or closely related areas, mentor and direct student research; contribute to department, college, and university governance.
Qualifications: Requirements include an earned doctorate (PhD) in Audiology, Hearing Science, Communication Disorders, or related field with evidence of substantial training or expertise in early intervention and sensory impairment. Other requirements include building and maintaining an externally funded research program, evidence of scholarly writing in pediatric assessment or intervention in hearing or balance disorders, and effective communication skills. Those appointed at the associate professor level must have a record of extramurally funded research. Preference will be given to candidates with college teaching experience and particular interest in pediatric assessment, amplification, cochlear implants, aural rehabilitation, or vestibular evaluation/management.
