Responsibilities & Skills
Duke Nursing seeks experienced nurses that are engaged in planning, providing care and documentation of the nursing process in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Nurses are encouraged to exercise their judgement to carry out patient-centered care plans in response to baseline needs. Additionally, nurses work in teams to assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of superior nursing care. Experienced nurses are encouraged to act as a team leader or charge nurse as assigned to ensure patient safety, security of environmental resources, and clinical or operational performance measures are achieved.
Experienced perioperative nurses are competent in BLS and/or other specialized life support requirements as designated by unit area. Fine motor skills, documentation of assessments, care plans, interventions and re-evaluation of patient status are all critical components of this position. Additionally, an emphasis on communication of pertinent information, an ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking and a working knowledge of procedures and techniques is essential.
Education, Experience, Licensures & Certifications
Accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program is required. Registered Nurses with an associate’s degree or nursing diploma are required to enroll in a BSN program within a predetermined time frame of start date.
Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. Nursing applicants with six months of experience may be considered at unit nurse manager discretion.
All applicants must have a current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS is required.
