Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Registered Nurse to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process. Duties include but are not limited to: - Participates in the development, interpretation and implementation of the department's philosophy, objectives, standards, policies and procedures.
- Has a working knowledge of all hospital policies & procedures.
- Utilizes the nursing process in planning, providing and evaluating each patient's care, and produces a written nursing assessment and up-to-date individualized care plan.
- Develops measurable goals on the Individualized Treatment Plan that are mutually set with the treatment team and patient.
- Modifies nursing component of the Master Treatment Plan as required by changing patient needs, as determined by evaluation of care administered and established standards of care. Keeps treatment plan updated; reviews the plan with patients.
- Documents nursing interventions and patient response on progress notes.
- Provides a safe, therapeutic environment that protects patient rights.
- Participates in Non-Violent Crisis Interventions at all times as necessary.
- Develops a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients; assists patient in developing coping mechanisms to deal with feelings.
- Sets limits in a therapeutic/consistent manner within program guidelines and age-specific.
- Serves as a role model for other nursing staff or patients by appearance, manner, attitude and tone.
- Establishes contact with the patient's physician and interdisciplinary team in order to assist in planning the patient's care in a professional manner.
- Assesses patient's physical needs and follows up with necessary treatment.
- Intervenes to decrease panic in disturbed patient; is able to use appropriate interventions on a daily basis; demonstrates an understanding and follows up with level system.
- Admits, discharge and transfer of patients based on physician orders and follows up with proper paperwork.
- Ensures that patients and families are oriented to the hospital and the unit; deals with family members in a professional, caring manner.
- Makes discharge plans for each patient; coordinates with other staff.
- Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team.
- Teaches patients and families; teaches coping skills to deal with behavior in an age-appropriate manner; teaches patients/families about medications.
- Incorporates cost containment into nursing plans and their implementation; time and attendance.
- Administers medication.
- Observes patient behavior for changes in order to intervene appropriately, guide non-professional nursing staff, communicate changes to appropriate staff, and record changes.
- Supervises non-professional nursing staff in provision of quality nursing care by example.
- Acts a charge nurse when so designated by the Clinical Nurse Manager.
- Participates in staff development programs and unit meetings.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining adequate coverage of patients during break times.
- Attends hospital mandatory training/in-services as required in a timely manner.
- Follows hospital expectations regarding Time and Attendance.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
